Watch Straps Australia NATO watch strap

What kinds of watch straps are available at Watch Straps Australia?

Here is a list of the different types of straps they offer:

Width: Across the whole range, straps come in nine lug widths: 16mm, 17mm, 18mm, 19mm, 20mm, 21mm, 22mm, 24mm and 26mm. Availability depends on the strap type:

NATO straps also come in four lengths: 280mm, 300mm, 310mm and 400mm. The longest suit big wrists or wearing over a wetsuit.

Material: NATO straps are the core of the business. You can choose between standard nylon (about 1.2mm thick), seatbelt nylon (about 1.4mm, with a denser and silkier weave) and leather NATOs (about 1.8mm). Styles include solid colours, stripes, camo and the classic "Bond" stripe. Hardware options are polished stainless steel, brushed steel, black PVD, gold and rose gold.

Beyond NATOs, they also sell Zulu straps, which use thicker nylon and rounded hardware in polished or black PVD finishes. Their silicone straps are two-piece designs with quick-release spring bars and brushed or black PVD buckles, and because they don’t pass under the caseback, they work well on watches with heart-rate sensors.

For leather, they carry two-piece straps made in Germany by RIOS1931, including Hudson suede, Boston alligator-embossed calf, Havana pigskin and Inzell retro leather. Rounding out the range are paratrooper (MN-style) elastic straps, handmade in Australia by Frogsquad.

About Watch Straps Australia

Watch Straps Australia is a small, Australian-owned business based in Perth, Western Australia. It was founded in 2014 by Brad Farleigh, a web designer and watch enthusiast, and originally launched as natostraps.com.au.

The idea came after Brad bought his first "good" watch, an Omega Speedmaster Professional. He wanted to put it on a NATO strap but couldn't find a local Australian supplier, and he wasn't keen on cheap, glued straps from overseas. After months of reviewing samples from manufacturers, he launched the store with just eight NATO straps, mostly in 18mm and 20mm.

Today the range has grown to more than 1,000 straps, all held in their own Perth warehouse rather than dropshipped. They've deliberately stayed focused on traditional straps for mechanical and everyday watches, so you won't find smartwatch bands here.

They also partner with two established makers: RIOS1931, a third-generation family-owned German strap maker, for leather, and Australian maker Frogsquad for paratrooper straps.

Ordering & Buying Experience

Watch Straps Australia is one of the best-known strap retailers in Australia. They've served more than 10,500 customers and hold a 5-star rating across 500+ Google reviews. Ordering is straightforward.

Customer questions go to a real person, usually Brad himself. You can pay with Visa, Mastercard, Amex and PayPal, or split the cost with Afterpay and Zip.

All straps come with a 365-day warranty. They cover return postage for faulty, damaged or incorrect items. For change-of-mind returns, you pay the postage, and a A$15 restocking fee is deducted if the order originally shipped for free. Straps must be in resellable condition, though the original plastic wrapper isn't required. To exchange a strap, you place a new order and send the original back. The original is then refunded.
