I have a confession to make: I am an Unimatic fanboy. I love the brand's philosophy, distinct design choices, and the core principles that Giovanni and Simone built it on. Beyond the official releases I closely follow Unimatic community, and I have to say that I am truly blown away by the creativity that comes from custom and "piece unique" commissions.

In this post I am happy to share over 30 of these special watches that I have "collected" in my archives over the last couple of years. There are so many cool and inspiring designs, colors, textures, materials, complications, and stories behind these mostly unique pieces.
I want to give a huge thank you to the Unimatic collectors and fans for their amazing ideas, and to the Unimatic team for their wonderful executions ❤️
By the way, if you would like to create your own custom Unimatic watch, visit this page to learn how.
Explore this list of unique pieces, and please be sure to check out the disclaimer at the end of the post.
Let's go!
The Modello Uno is a cool release for Amazon's internal watch group. It features a white dial with subtle Amazon colors and a fun Easter egg on the date wheel. One of these models has recently appeared on an auction site and is available for purchase, so keep your alerts ready.
The Carbon Quattro GMT surfaced during the release of the second edition of the Automobili Amos. While everyone was covering the UT4-AA3, a few well-known Unimatic collectors showed off this GMT on their Instagram Stories.
The seconds hand once again features a small car at its tip, and the Unimatic logo incorporates the distinctive "AA" markings, a clear sign that this GMT was made for Automobili Amos.
This is one of the best custom Unimatics out there. It features a super clean DLC case, a fully blacked-out bracelet, a minimal dial, and Arab numerals. Sick!
If you own the legendary BIOTOP edition and appreciate its color scheme, a great option is to commission a custom Modello Tre with a fixed bezel in a similar colorway. Besides the Tod Snyder U3FB-TS, this is the only chrono with a fixed bezel out there.
This watch may be familiar to anyone who has searched for "custom Unimatic" or "piece unique Unimatic" online, as the collector generously documented the entire process on Reddit.
This Modello Uno features a minimal, sterile dial (what Unimatic calls a "matte black vacuum dial") along with a GMT movement and a date at the 6 o'clock position.
While the watch was delivered on a bracelet, the presentation case included additional leather and nylon straps. And check out that inspirational caseback engraving message.
This GMT is a particularly interesting piece, featuring a complex dial pattern, gilt accents, and matching blue hands with a warm lume. I took the snapshot a few years ago and would be curious to see how the bronze has aged over time.
Unimatic has been creating double-signed dials, and this one for the Philippine Urological Association is particularly interesting. A unique detail is the logo, which features kidneys and a bladder 🤗
This Modello Uno has unusual gilt bezel markings. It's a very cool custom watch.
Sometimes I get tips. In this case, a user sent me a password-protected URL and a password from Unimatic's website. There, I found this cool U1 GMT that was probably created for a group of watch enthusiasts in the medical niche. I don't know if there were enough orders, or if this release was ever produced, but nevertheless, I'm glad I managed to get a sneak peek into the hidden areas of the Unimatic website.
I love this watch. It's a simple customization that produces a fantastic result. This Quattro features a black DLC-coated case with a pop of color on the hour markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock.
This was a custom limited edition of 77 pieces.
This watch is another unique take on the U4. This custom Unimatic, presented on a bracelet, features a warm, creamy dial with ghosted hour markers that are entirely sunken, or debossed, into the surface. The watch also came with a matching TPU rubber strap.
Writing a description is completely unnessesary. Just enjoy!
This looks like the U1-EMN, but it is not. This is a Modello Uno with a DLC-coated case, an olive green outline dial, and a visible open chapter ring. Very, very cool.
A "1/1" caption on an Instagram Story always gets my attention. This Quattro is a one-of-a-kind piece, made entirely of carbon from the case and dial to the buckle. I absolutely adore it!
This clean Modello Uno features a fully-graduated purple bezel insert. A closer look reveals a discreet purple logo below the triangle at 12 o'clock. The customization is very tastefully done.
Although this was not a secretive release (it was announced on Unimatic's official account) I have included it here because the model was not featured in their Archive. This Modello Tre is a single-register chronograph with a green bezel insert and a matching green subdial.
This is another Modello Tre with a single subdial for elapsed minutes. What makes this chrono special are dial markings, which are in 5 minute increments, and distinctive black skeletonized hands.
Also, it doesn't say Unimatic anywhere on the dial.
OK, brace yourself, this one is special. Here we have a Unimatic used by a emergency response organization. The unit that ordered these watches is New York City Fire Department Rescue Company 1, also known as Rescue 1.
This is a double-signed watch in titanium, with a date complication. There are only 12 pieces in existence.
The caption says "1 of 1," and the appearance of this Quattro is similar to the "Ore" collection models, so I assume it is made from solid gold. The watch features a sterile dial and skeletonized gold hands.
It's the ultimate "I don't give a f#ck Unimatic".
This carbon-cased U4 features a purple dial with California markings, a style that combines Roman and Arabic numerals. A particularly cool detail is the purple outline on the handset.
As a strong enthusiast of the brand, William Massena commissioned a limited run of Unimatic watches to gift to his friends and family.
The watch features a clean and unusual execution, with a Cerakote-coated case, a thin open chapter ring, and white hour markers and hands.
A few of these have since appeared for sale through private channels, so it may be worth monitoring those listings if you are interested in purchasing one.
While I'm not sure how this case is made, I've nicknamed it the "Topography" case, and it has a stunning appearance.
There is a possibility that this is an aftermarket modification rather than an official Unimatic piece, but I have decided to include it here regardless.
This is another watch I would easily place in the "grail" category, not because of its high price (gold case), but due to its superb aesthetics. The gold case and black dial work together excellently, making this a truly wonderful U4
As we can see from the photo, the customer (probably) went to the Unimatic showroom in Milan to pick up his custom watch.
This Modello Uno is a well-known watch. It has appeared on Hodinkee Radio, worn by Tony Traina, and has also been seen on eBay and other secondary markets, where it is still possible to acquire one for a reasonable price.
The watch's public life began when Ben Clymer started teasing it on his Instagram account (see photo 1 below). Then a bit later, those who received it as a gift for Hodinkee's 15th anniversary began posting it more frequently.
Technically speaking, this is a double-signed Unimatic U1 in a carbon case with a lume dial. There is so much to love about it.
This custom edition of the Modello Quattro features skeletonized hands and a double railroad track, a detail that was previously only seen on the BAIT x Unimatic Quattro white and yellow models.
Do you remember that cool Revolution release nicknamed "Arctic Fox"? This custom Unimatic has a resemblance to that one. Here we have a U1 GMT with a white Cerakote coating that also features a date at the 6 o'clock position and a textured dial. The ornamentation is called a tessellation pattern.
I particularly like this release because the white markings and hands match the case perfectly. I also anticipate that the Cerakote case will develop a beautiful patina over time. It's a lovely execution.
This Quattro features a gentle, baby-blue dial with barely noticeable, sunken, and outlined hour markers, as well as an open chapter ring. The designer and the team at Unimatic deserve praise for creating such a soft and pillowy appearance.
When Unimatic and Massena LAB revealed the final chapter in their first series of watches, the public saw the U1-MLB. What was less known was that William privately offered a special DLC version to previous buyers and friends.
The all-black dial is easy to read, with a subtle "ghost" signature that fades into the background. Like its 1970s Blancpain "Bund" inspiration, the watch has a bright orange minute hand that contrasts with the hour hand, so reading the time is quick and easy in any condition.
This special DLC version looks super stealthy, as we can see in the high-res photos a friend of the site has generously provided.
With this one, I am also not sure if the watch came out of Unimatic like this, or if it was an aftermarket modification.
It features a black DLC-coated case with a completely custom, gilt-engraved dial, resulting in a unique and "nerdy" look.
This is a well-known watch, particularly because it was auctioned at Phillips a few years ago. I've decided to include it here because it is not listed in Unimatic's Archive.
The Modello Quattro is cased in bronze and features a beautifully engraved dial. It recently appeared on Instagram, allowing us to see how the case has aged and developed a rich patina.
This special U1 edition features a deep-blue, inky dial, an open chapter ring, and a fully graduated bezel.
The watch is double-signed with the Luisaviaroma name below the depth rating, and there were only 50 pieces available worldwide.
This Modello Uno is a "Piece Unique" created for the Pirelli Calendar, defined by its vibrant pink dial and ghosted gold handset. As seen in the photos below, the watch is featured on a female wrist.
This is a truly unique Modello Due. To my knowledge, this is the first U2 with a GMT movement, the first U2 with a carbon dial, and the first U2 with a purple case. With these highly unusual features it is an absolutely fantastic watch.
This one had a particular RedBar account tagged in the post, so I assume the color is red or bright orange. Apart from the colored dial, this Unimatic has a black DLC case and a fully graduated bezel.
Another surprise from William Massena. The U5S-ML24 was exclusively reserved for a select group of brand insiders and friends. This "friends-and-family" edition was limited to a only 99 examples.
Key features of the U5S-ML24 include the GMT function and a design inspired by German mid-century industrial aesthetics. The design pays tribute to the minimalist principles of Dieter Rams and also draws inspiration from the dashboards of vintage 1960s and 70s Bavarian cars.
This photo is from the Unimatic website. I don't know if this is a real model, but it looks very interesting.
Did you notice the Arabic numeral at the 2 o'clock position? Cool, right?
The photo's caption, "PROTOTYPE," only adds to the mystery of this piece. While I'm unsure if the watch was ever fully completed, it certainly had all the hallmarks of a unique custom Unimatic: a double signature, a panda dial, and a stainless steel bezel insert.
I only managed to capture this watch on video, which is why the screengrabs are not as sharp. This U1 features a carbon case and a blue tessellation pattern dial.
The creamy-colored lume on the markers and hands gives the watch a warm and balanced overall appearance.
