Delugs is running its Golden Hour independent watch fair in two cities this November. The Hong Kong event is on 7-8 November at Central Building, and the Singapore one is on 13-15 November at Raffles Hotel. Both are open to the public, and you can even buy a watch on the spot.

Delugs is a Singapore strap maker that launched in 2018 and is best known for a great selection of leather straps. For the past year it has been bringing independent watch brands into the boutiques one at a time, so customers could handle watches they had only seen on a screen and talk to the people who make them.
Golden Hour is the bigger version of that format. Instead of one brand at a time, there will be multiple brands in the same room together.
This is the largest Golden Hour the company has run so far. Delugs says many of the founders have become friends over the years, which is why the team describes the fair as closer to a party than a trade show.
"A lot of the people behind these brands have become friends over the years, so honestly it feels less like running a fair and more like hosting a big party. And the best part about this party is that everyone is invited."

At both stops you can meet the founders, try the watches on, and purchase one (or two) during the event. Delugs says the fair is open to anyone, whether you are in Singapore, Hong Kong, elsewhere in Asia Pacific, or further away.
The brands exhibiting in Hong Kong are Anoma, Atelier Wen, Earthen Co, Echo/Neutra, Formex, Furlan Marri, Maen, Ophion, and Straum.
The Singapore stop has a longer list: Anoma, Atelier Wen, Baltic, Czapek, Dennison, Earthen Co, Felipe Pikullik, Formex, Furlan Marri, Kiwame Tokyo, Kuoe, Maen, Nivada Grenchen, Ophion, SpaceOne, and Wren. Delugs says more brands will be added.
Both cities also have a display-only section, where the watches are on show but not for sale: Fleming, Grönefeld, J.N. Shapiro, Kallinich Claeys, Romain Gauthier, and Simon Brette.
Dates, venues, and the current brand list are on the Golden Hour site at goldenhour.delugs.com.
Most strap brands stick to straps. Delugs keeps finding reasons to pull the wider watch community into the same room, and this is the clearest example yet. Bringing this many independent brands together in two cities, and giving people the chance to handle the watches and meet the founders face to face, takes a serious amount of work. Delugs did it anyway, because they wanted to.
Credit where it is due: they are ahead of almost everyone else in this corner of the hobby, and they have earned a place among the real leaders of the strap and watch community. I really think that an event like this is a gift to enthusiasts and collectors, most of whom never get to meet these founders or try these watches. I would love to see Golden Hour become a yearly thing. If it does, it will be one of the better dates on the calendar for independent watch fans. If you can get to Hong Kong or Singapore in November, give it a visit.
